Four-star 2026 Edge Xavier Griffin has committed to USC Saturday after visiting the Trojans for the second time this summer.

USC gained commitments that didn’t last long earlier this year from five-star Georgia defensive linemen Justus Terry and Isaiah Gibson, but Griffin’s interest was much higher than their’s heading into his second visit.

In June Griffin and his mother visited together and they’re both back this weekend. Griffin is scheduled to visit Alabama on Sunday for its big recruiting event, which means he’ll be spending some time in the air this weekend.

Griffin has been communicating regularly with USC defensive line coach Eric Henderson since January.

He’s already established himself as one of the top rising juniors in the country and holds more than 30 offers.

Griffin had a busy spring with visits to Clemson (March 9), Georgia (March 16), Alabama(March 22), Georgia Tech (April 6), Florida (April 8), Tennessee (April 11) and Ohio State(April 13).

Griffin’s On3 Ranking

Griffin ranks as the No. 27 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also tabbed in as the No. 2 edge rusher and the No. 5 player in the state of Georgia in the 2026 class. Obviously that means he’s considered an elite 2026 target for the Trojans.

Griffin’s recruitment has blossomed since mid fall after a phenomenal, breakout sophomore season.

In 2023, Griffin totaled 52 tackles with 20 tackles for loss. The most important number though is that Griffin put up nine sacks and seven quarterback hurries. He also had two pass deflections and two forced fumbles.

To date, Griffin holds offers from USC, Alabama, Michigan, Florida State, Georgia, Oregon, Texas, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Missouri, Penn State, LSU, Florida, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Clemson, Miami, Oklahoma, Ohio State, UAB, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Duke, Kentucky, Nebraska and more.

2026 USC commits

As of July 27, USC has commitments from J.Myron “Tron” BakerBrandon LockhartMadden Riordan, Dominick Kelly. Adding a player of Griffin’s caliber was huge for the Trojans and significant momentum boost heading into Fall Camp on August 2.
