BREAKING: On300 4-star safety Marquis Gallegos commits to USC
USC defensive back coach Donte Williams is having a red hot summer on the recruiting trail. West Hills (CA) Chaminade High four-star safety Marquis Gallegos has announced his commitment to the Trojans.
Gallegos is the No. 227 overall prospect and No. 18 linebacker in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 19 player in California.
On3 ranks Gallegos higher than the rest of the industry, tabbing him as the No. 161 overall prospect and No. 3 safety in the 2024 class.
The 6-foot-1, 180 pounder announced a top-5 group last week of USC, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Oklahoma. The only two official visits he took were USC and Oregon.
Gallegos is the 14th commitment in USC’s 2024 class to date and is the fourth defensive back of the group. He is slated to play safety for the Trojans.

Gallegos becomes the 11th four-star commitment for USC in the class. He is the sixth commit on the defensive side of the ball. He joins a top-10 ranked Trojans recruiting class.
His decision to commit comes not long after he took his official visit to USC, which wrapped up on June 18. Clearwater (Fla.) Academy International four-star interior offensive lineman Jason Zandamela and Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star cornerback Marcelles Williams have also committed following their official visits the same weekend.
What USC likes, where Gallegos fits
“The biggest thing they say to me is they love how I take the ball away, that I’m a ballhawk,” said Gallegos. “They see me fit in playing a role like Calen Bullock is playing for them now.”
Riley and direction of the football program
“Lincoln Riley’s a great coach, but an even better person,” Gallegos said. “He’s very easy to talk to and always makes myself and my family feel at home when we visit USC. The direction of the USC program is definitely headed in the right direction.
On3 NIL Valuation of Gallegos
He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $64K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
