BREAKING: USC lands a commitment from 4-star DL Carlon Jones
USC has landed a massive commitment on the recruiting trail as four-star Bay City (Tex.) defensive lineman Carlon Jones has announced his commitment to the Trojans.
Jones, 6-foot-3, 270 pounds, chose the Trojans over the Ohio State Buckeyes, who were a heavy favorite for Jones since late November when Jones opened his recruitment, decommitting from Nebraska.
Jones makes his decision fresh off of an official visit to USC on Dec. 15-17. Jones took an official visit to Ohio State on Dec. 8. Nebraska, Oklahoma State, California, Georgia Tech, TCU, and UTSA were among his other visits in his recruitment.
In total, Jones holds 25 offers. The full list includes USC, Ohio State, Alabama, Nebraska, TCU, Houston, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State, California, UTSA, Texas Tech, Minnesota, Utah, Arizona State, Maryland, Syracuse, Tulane, SMU, Northwestern, Texas State, Boston College, Wyoming, Oregon State, Sam Houston State, and Prairie View A&M.
Jones is currently ranked as the No. 351 overall prospect and No. 34 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 55 player in Texas.

On3 is much higher on Jones than others in the industry, tabbing him as the No. 194 overall prospect and No. 17 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle.
With Jones now in the class, he joins Savage (Minn.) Prior Lake four-star defensive lineman Jide Abasiri as the only true defensive lineman in the class. However, USC will also bring in two edge rushers. Savannah (Ga.) Jenkins three-star EDGE Lorenzo Cowan and Atlanta (Ga.) Washington four-star EDGE Kameryn Fountain are two of the staff’s favorites in the recruiting class.
