BREAKING: USC lands commitment from Oregon State DB Akili Arnold
USC has reeled in a new member for the secondary as former Oregon State defensive back Akili Arnold has announced his commitment to the Trojans. He will have one year of eligibility.
Arnold was an important piece of the defense for the Beavers. He was given Pac-12 conference Honorable Mention honors following the season.
Arnold has tallied 62 total tackles this season, adding two tackles for loss and half a sack. He’s picked off two passes and is credited with six pass breakups while also recovering one fumble.
In his five year career, Arnold accumulated 154 total tackles, 10 pass deflections, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and half a sack.
Arnold played high school football at Mission Viejo (CA) High School, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 1,132 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
USC in the transfer portal
Since the start of December, USC has added three commitments from the transfer portal, and that number is only expected to grow in the coming days and weeks.
Prior to the commitment of Arnold, USC had reeled in three additions through the transfer portal.
Those commitments were from former Oregon State linebacker Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, former Vanderbilt defensive lineman Nate Clifton and former Michigan State long snapper Hank Pepper.
