Bronny James Commits to USC
USC and head coach Andy Enfield added another piece to the Trojans’ outstanding 2023 recruiting class on Sunday as five-star guard Bronny James announced his commitment.
James earns plenty of attention as the son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. But the 6-foot-3, 190-pound guard is plenty talented in his own right. He’s the nation’s No. 27 overall prospect in the 2023 On3 Industry Rankings. In the On3 Rankings, he’s a five-star recruit and the nation’s No. 9 overall prospect.
Most recently, James participated at the Nike Hoop Summit in Portland. On Saturday, he scored 11 points as part of a U.S. team that beat a World team in an Under-19 game.
James hadn’t spoken to media during his entire recruiting process. But he did so during the Summit.
“Of course I can defend at a high level,” Bronny said to ESPN when asked what he showed. “I’m a smart player. I can make the right plays. I’m not very ball-hungry. I can give it up. Just know that I’m a good player and a good teammate.”

On3 Scouting Summary for Bronny James
“Bronny James is a sturdy guard, with a strong frame, long arms, and broad shoulders. The 6-2/6-3 guard is a noted defender at the point of attack. He moves his feet well laterally and plays with a chip on his shoulder. Offensively he does not really show blow-by burst in the half-court, but he attacks closeouts well, and he is strong in the paint. James is good in transition, has a little bit of wiggle there, and can get on the rim. He is explosive in straight lines. James needs to tighten his handle in space. One of his biggest areas of improvement is from three, where he has cleaned up his mechanics – especially the release – and gathered his balance. James made 13 threes in six Peach Jam games at a 35 percent clip. He will need to finish better at the rim, especially in traffic. When playing as the primary initiator, he takes care of the ball with a better than 2.5:1 assists to turnover ratio at Peach Jam.”
USC’s Outstanding 2023 Recruiting Class
What a class for Enfield and USC.
The commitment from James gives the Trojans’ three players in this class all ranked among the top 55 prospects in the country.
The group is led by No. 1 overall prospect Isaiah Collier. The true point guard has instant-impact potential and is very likely a one-and-done player for the Trojans.
And four-star forward Arrinten Page comes to USC with Collier as high school teammates.
