Bronny James Holds Signing Ceremony at Sierra Canyon
Five-star prospect Bronny James took another step closer to beginning his USC career on Wednesday.
The nation’s No. 23 overall prospect participated in a signing ceremony at Sierra Canyon High School.
His father, NBA star LeBron James, posted a photo to his Instagram account.
Part of James’ caption read:
“My boy signed his letter of intent yesterday for @uschoops! So damn happy and proud of you @bronny!!USC basketball has found a way to consistently stay in the news this offseason as the Trojans are putting together one of the most interesting and exciting rosters in the nation considering both on and off-court expectations. “
USC officially announced James as part of the Trojans’ 2023 signing class last week.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound guard is the third high school prospect to sign with USC in this class, joining No. 1 overall recruit Isaiah Collier and four-star forward Arrinten Page. That group gives the Trojans the No. 4 class in the country and No. 2 recruiting class in the Pac-12 according to the On3 rankings.

James will have an opportunity to start for the Trojans this fall. But he won’t be expected to come in as an immediate and featured star.

That responsibility will fall on the shoulders of five-star point guard and the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect, Isaiah Collier.
Collier could become the Trojans’ primary ball-handler this season and will share the backcourt with veteran guard Boogie Ellis.
James adds to a growing list of talented “three-and-D” players on the USC roster. The USC basketball program recently put out some eye-opening stats in that regard Kobe Johnson returns as one of the best defenders in the conference after finishing second in the Pac-12 with 2.2 steals per game. And incoming transfer D.J. Rodman hit 42.5% of his three-point attempts in conference play last season. He also drew 31 charges, which ranked first in the nation.
With Collier and Ellis likely dominating possession, James will have the opportunity to serve at times as a No. 3 ball handler and should also benefit from seeing open shots from outside.
