Calen Bullock, Mason Cobb Named to 2023 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List

USC safety Calen Bullock and linebacker Mason Cobb were two of the 42 college football defensive players named to the 2023 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List.
The award is named in honor of USC legend Ronnie Lott and has been given annually since 2004. It goes to college football’s defensive player who makes the biggest impact for his team both on and off the field. IMPACT is an acronym for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community, and Tenacity.
Though, on-field play is an important part as well.
The past two winners have been Michigan defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson and Alabama linebacker Will Anderson Jr. A USC player has never won the award.

Bullock and Cobb will try to become the first Trojans to do so this season.
Bullock is a returning first-team All-American. He started every game for USC in 2022 and led the Trojans with five interceptions. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound safety also had 48 tackles and five pass breakups. He returns for what could be his third and final season at USC. The talented defender has been placed in a number of 2024 first-round NFL mock drafts.
Cobb is a first-year USC player after coming over from Oklahoma State this offseason. He’s expected to make an immediate and impactful impression on the USC defense. He led the Cowboys with 96 tackles last season. And his 13 tackles for loss were the second-most in the Big 12 Conference. The 6-foot 230-pound linebacker was named to the All-Big-12 second team in 2022.
