Washington State Transfer DJ Rodman Commits to USC
USC landed another key addition to its 2023 roster this offseason as veteran transfer DJ Rodman announced his commitment to the Trojans.
The 6-foot-6, 215-pound Rodman started 30 games for the Washington State Cougars last season. He finished fourth on the team in scoring, at 9.6 points per game, and second on the team in rebounding, at 5.8 boards per game.
It was his fourth year at Washington State and his first as a regular starter. He connected on nearly. 80% of his free throw attempts and shot 41.3% from the floor.
Rodman scored 16 points and grabbed four rebounds in a Washington State home win against USC this past season. He finished the year with a season-high 23 points in a loss to Eastern Washington in the NIT.
Rodman prepped at JSerra High School and went to Washington State as a two-star prospect in the 2019 recruiting class. This will be a homecoming for him and add another son of a basketball superstar to the USC roster.
Rodman’s father is NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman.
He will bring some much-needed veteran experience to the USC roster this year. The Trojans have an interesting mix of young potential, proven vets and huge names.

USC Roster This Fall
Boogie Ellis is back to lead the Trojans and he’ll get significant help from Kobe Johnson as returning captains. And a fully healthy Vince Iwuchukwu will be huge for the Trojans. Defensive standout Joshua Morgan should make his presence felt in the middle. And Harrison Hornery, Kijani Wright and Oziyah Sellers are slated to return as potentially key pieces.
But USC saw a major exodus of talent to the transfer portal as Reese Dixon-Waters, Tre White and Malik Thomas all departed. Silas Demary Jr. never suited up for the Trojans as he asked out of his NIL, but counts as another departure considering he would have likely played this season. And those losses are added to Drew Peterson exhausting his eligibility.
Rodman will likely be asked to play significant minutes for USC, which will also get varying degrees of help from a tremendously talented freshman class.
Point guard Isaiah Collier will play early and often for the Trojans. He’s the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings. And while all eyes nationally will be on fellow five-star prospect Bronny James due to his name, he should have the ability to work into the rotation as a true freshman.
