USC star wide receiver will miss the final four games of the regular season after suffering a fractured ankle while scoring a touchdown in the win against Arizona on Saturday night.

Head coach Donte Williams announced the news during his Sunday evening media session.

“In those eight games he played, that’s someone you see in those eight games, all the awards you can think of, he deserves,” Williams said. “Whether it’s the Biletnikoff, whether it’s first-team All-American, the things he did for this team and this university, he was about to put up probably one of the best statistical seasons any receiver has ever put up in college football. And that’s saying a lot.”

In those eight games, London caught 88 passes for 1,084 yards and seven touchdowns. He was on pace to set USC single-season records for receptions and receiving yards. He’ll finish the year tied with Johnnie Morton for the ninth place on USC’s single-season receptions list. His 16 receptions against Utah were tied for the second-most in a game in USC history. London is the only USC wide receiver in history to post two games with at least 15 receptions and he did them in back-to-back games against Utah and Notre Dame.

The injury occurred on London’s second touchdown of the game against Arizona, when a defender rolled on his ankle in the end zone. London immediately grabbed at his ankle. USC trainers put his leg in an air cast and took him up the Coliseum tunnel via cart. He eventually returned to the sideline with his lower leg in a cast.

“Yes, we’re going to miss him as a player, but things people forget about is who he is as a person to this team,” Williams said. “He’s a team captain for a reason. He’s a leader, he’s someone who shows up every day and works extremely, extremely hard.”

The expectation is that London has played his last game for USC and will make himself eligible for the 2022 NFL Draft. If that happens, London will finish his USC career with 160 receptions for 2,153 yards and 15 touchdowns.
