Football season is officially upon us and if you are like me, you can appreciate watching any level of football to get your fix in. For USC fans, there is a high level high school football game going to take place in Georgia this evening. In fact, it is the only football game of any level that will be televised on the ESPN network on Friday.

The game will be played between powerhouse teams Carrollton and Langston Hughes, airing on ESPN2 at 6 PM ET. This means fans on the west coast can catch the game at 3 PM PT.

Carrollton might sound familiar as it is the home of USC’s top quarterback target of the future, Julian ‘JuJu’ Lewis, currently the highest regarded prospect in the 2026 cycle.

As a freshman, Lewis led his Carrollton squad to a 14-1 season capped off with state championship appearance. And in one of the toughest divisions in America, Georgia 7A, Lewis threw for an astounding 4,118 passing yards and 48 touchdowns. He completed 65.5% of his passes and averaged 274.5 yards per game.

Lincoln Riley has completely set his sights on Lewis as the potential quarterback of the future for USC beyond Caleb Williams, Miller Moss, and Malachi Nelson. Lewis is likely to be the unanimous No. 1 prospect in the nation. While he is 2026 right now, it remains possible he reclassifies to 2025 down the road.

Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports spoke recently on Lewis and his recruitment with USC seemingly the leader.

“Development is the No. 1 thing he’s looking for when he makes his college decision. The first program I look at right now is USC,” Wiltfong said. “Been out there three times, built a great rapport with Lincoln Riley — and the Trojans, they’re not pushing for anybody in the class of 2025 right now, either. I think that they’re all in on Julian Lewis here.”

A potential B1G matchup of the future?

On the opposite sideline of Lewis will be Langston Hughes’ gem of a quarterback, five-star Ohio State commit Air Noland.

With Lewis trending to USC and Noland set to be the future of the Buckeyes offense, this matchup on Friday night could be a glimpse of future duals between USC and Ohio State signal callers. USC’s first season in the B1G conference will be the 2024 season.

While it is no sure thing Lewis will end up at USC, it is highly likely we see Noland sign with Ohio State later this year. So, the Trojans facing Noland in the future would happen regardless. USC fans can do a bit of some future scouting on someone who is sure to give the Trojans an exciting matchup.
