Another day and another top list of schools for USC as the Trojans are among the ten finalists for four-star cornerback Micah Tease.

The 5-foot-11, 179-pound corner is down to Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas A&M and USC. He has the skill to play cornerback or wide receiver at the next level. He’d likely play corner if he winds up with the Trojans.

Tease is the No. 150 overall prospect and No. 16 cornerback in the 2023 On3 Consensus Rankings.

Tease spoke with On3 National Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman about each of his top 10 schools. Spiegelman also went deeper into Tease’s recruitment to offer some inside intel.

His connection to USC comes down to the relationships he’s built with the staff. And these aren’t new connections. Tease attends the same high school that produced 2021 four-star cornerback Gentry Williams, who was a long-time USC target. USC cornerbacks coach Donte Williams developed a very strong relationship with Williams and with Tease as well during that recruitment.

Williams eventually committed to Oklahoma, meaning head coach Lincoln Riley and Alex Grinch won out. Though, they did get a big assist in being the home-state school. When Riley and Grinch left for USC, new Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables was able to hold onto Williams’ commitment and sign him in the Sooners’ class.

Tease and USC

Tease is part of an absolutely loaded official visit weekend for USC this summer. The weekend of June 16-19 will see somewhere around two dozen official visitors.

USC recently landed a commitment from four-star cornerback Braxton Myers. In the 2021 class, the Trojans signed Five-Star Plus+ cornerback Domani Jackson and four-star corner Fabian Ross. USC went into the transfer portal for two additions there this offseason. Veteran corner Mekhi Blackmon impressed this spring and is a likely starter this season. Former Washington defensive back Jacobe Covington is the most recent portal addition.

USC signed four-stars Prophet Brown and Ceyair Wright as corners in the 2021 class. But this is a position that has been hit by injuries and depth issues the past few years. Last season, safeties Xamarion Gordon and Calen Bullock both spent time at cornerback due to low numbers there. USC needs a couple of additions at the position and are off to a good start with the commitment from Myers and attention from Tease and others.

USC’s 2023 Recruiting Class

USC’s 2023 recruiting class is currently the No. 2 class in the nation.

It’s led by Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Malachi Nelson, along with five-star wide receiver Zach Branch, and four-star wideout Makai Lemon.

The Texas running back tandem of Quinten Joyner and A’Marion Peterson joined the class this spring. Both are four-star prospects.

On the defensive side, Myers announced his commitment to USC earlier this week. And three-star safety Christian Pierce is a big-hitting local addition to the class.
