Olney (MD) Good Counsel four-star EDGE Darien Mayo has narrowed his list to six schools and USC is one of the finalists. The six are USC, Michigan, Ohio State, Clemson, South Carolina, and Maryland.

Mayo ranks as the No. 186 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 14 EDGE and the No. 6 player in the state of Maryland.

On3 is higher on him versus the rest of the industry, as Mayo ranks as the No. 89 player nationally, the No. 14 EDGE, and the second-best player in Maryland.

Upcoming visit schedule

He recently set June official visits to Clemson (June 2-4), Ohio State (June 9-11), USC (June 16-18) and Michigan (June 23-25).

“These are the schools I feel really comfortable with,” Mayo told On3. “I have visited each school once and I have developed good relationships with coaches at all four. Every time I talk with them, the coaches are genuine and I feel the love. The atmosphere at each school feels good and I could see myself at any four of these schools.”

At the moment, the 6-foot-6, 250-pound pass rusher plans to take these four officials and then think about his decision. He does not want to rush his recruitment, and is even willing to use one or two officials during the season if necessary.

However, if Mayo is ready, he will commit to one of the four programs he is officially visiting in June. The four-star does not have a fifth official visit planned at this time.

On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine

The 6-foot-6, 240-pound edge rusher holds 31 total offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Ohio State is a slight favorite at 17.3%. Michigan, Clemson, and USC are all 10% or higher.

RPM was released to the public in December 2021. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

On3 NIL Valuation

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $72K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
