Four-Star QB Jonas Williams Flips Commitment from Oregon to USC

A day after multiple On3 USC flip predictions were submitted on Wednesday for big-time Frankfort Heights (IL) quarterback Jonas Williams, he announced his commitment to the Trojans.
USC hosted the On300 quarterback and former Oregon commit Williams for the first time on February 1. Williams told us the Trojans first casually reached out late last Summer, but we didn’t hear much after that.
After that Feb. 1 USC visit, a source close to Williams told Steve Wiltfong it was “trending well” with Williams. Lincoln Riley hit up Frankfort Heights last month to visit the four-star at his Chicagoland high school and the two spent a lot of time together on that trip.
Impact of a potential Jonas Williams USC commitment
Although five-star Folsom (CA) quarterback Ryder Lyons has been a high priority for quite some time for Riley and the Trojans, he will take a LDS Mission after high school. That means he won’t be enrolling until summer of 2027.
Lyons’ USC tight end brother Walker Lyons took the same path after he graduated in 2023 and enrolled last June.

So, Lyons remains a top target for the Trojans and they’ll battle it out with Oregon, Ole Miss and BYU. Lyons could also announce a school choice this spring or summer, so USC could theoretically have two 2026 quarterback commits by the time fall camp rolls around in August.
USC’s 2026 recruiting class ranked No. 2
As of February 20, USC owns the No. 2 2026 recruiting class ranking per the On3 Industry Rankings.
The 10 committed players for the Trojans are Jonas Williams, Xavier Griffin, RJ Sermons, Brandon Lockhart, Braeden Jones, Madden Riordan, Joshua Holland, Shahn Alston, Andrew Williams and Ja’Myron “Tron” Baker.
While this could change tomorrow, next week or next month, as of now we believe the most likely 2026 USC targets to commit next are Vlad Dyakonov, Deshonne Redeaux, Khary Wilder, Sam Utu, Davon Benjamin and Simote Kataonga. WeAreSC will update this list each month as appropriate.
