Inside the Trojans' Huddle: Takeaways from new USC defensive coaches, and the Arledge Quiz Show
On this week’s episode of Inside the Trojans’ Huddle, guest host Chris Arledge continues to fill in for Greg Katz and the WeAreSC panel takes a long look at the recent press conference featuring all of the new USC defensive coaches.
THE FIRST QUARTER
** USC introduced its new defensive staff to the media this week. What were your overall impressions, what did you like, and is there something you wanted to hear and didn’t?
The panel liked a lot of what the new staff had to say. Defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn, defensive line coach Eric Henderson, linebacker coach Matt Entz and secondary coach Doug Belk bring a ton of experience to that side of the ball and seem to have a solid early idea of how to get on the same page to put the best version of the 2024 USC defense on the field this fall. It was too early for them to go into detail about specific players on the roster, but the mentality they’ll approach things with was clear and impressive.
THE SECOND QUARTER
** What is one play in USC history that you wish the Trojans could get a mulligan on?
The conversation focused primarily on the National Championship game between the Trojans and Texas Longhorns. Though, a specific matchup between USC and UCLA was mentioned as well.

HALFTIME
** A question from viewer Stephen Ross: “Guys, should we be worried about the O line? The bowl game didn’t show they could run block and center remains a concern.”
General consensus? Yes.
THE THIRD QUARTER
** The SEC and Big 10 have formed a committee to discuss college football’s future. What would you like to see come out of this?
This one is obviously going to be a huge topic to monitor throughout the coming years as the one consistent for college football of late has been change.
FOURTH QUARTER
It’s another edition of Arledge’s questions. Again, this is a competition, a serious one. A Royal Rumble of the mind. Answers will be weighed and judged. The winner will receive a week’s worth of pride and honor. The loser will stay just as he is right now, with no pride and little honor.
