A disappointing USC basketball season was dealt another blow when the program announced standout freshman point guard Isaiah Collier is expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks due to a hand injury suffered in USC’s loss to Washington State on Wednesday.

Collier appeared to suffer the injury with 12 minutes remaining in the game after committing a foul. He exited the game and did not return as the Trojans lost 72-64.

Collier is second on the team in scoring this season, averaging 15.4 points per game, and he leads the Trojans with 66 total assists. But he struggled mightily with turnovers early in the year. He’s done a bit better limiting them of late, but had four against Washington State before leaving with the injury.

This has been an extremely disappointing season for the Trojans to this point. A USC team that was picked No. 2 in the Pac-12 preseason poll is off to an 8-8 start with losses to UC Irvine, Long Beach State, Oregon State and Washington State. The Trojans currently sit at ninth place in the conference.

This comes at a terrible time for the Trojans as the team enters the heart of conference play. Even just four weeks sidelined will see Collier miss games against Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, Oregon, Oregon State and California. Six weeks would get him back on the court for just the final five games of the regular season.

A likely one-and-done prospect, it’ll be worth watching how many games Collier actually has remaining in his USC career.
