While most programs and recruiting fans have fully set their attention on the 2023 recruiting class, a couple of major prospects in the 2022 class continue through the process. One of those is four-star offensive tackle Joshua Conerly Jr.

But there’s an end date in sight now for the nation’s No. 40 overall prospect in the 2023 On3 Consensus. According to his father, Conerly will make his announcement on Friday, April 8. It will take place in the Rainier Beach gym at 6 pm PT.

The 6-foot-5, 283-pound tackle wanted to make sure he took as much time as necessary to make the right decision for him. Devoting his attention to his high school basketball season and having to deal with the February dead period meant Conerly pushed official visits back to March.

He took an official visit to Oregon on March 11 and will use his fifth and final visit to see USC on March 25.

Previously, Conerly took official visits to Michigan last September, then Oklahoma and Miami in January.

The Ducks and Trojans look to be the two battling to the end for Conerly’s services. Conerly has taken multiple unofficial visits to both schools. Last week, USC took a huge lead in the On3 RPM for Conerly, after a prediction from WeAreSC’s Scott Schrader.

Conerly would be a huge addition for USC

There’s no way to overstate how important Conerly would be for this USC class. The Trojans did not sign a high school offensive lineman in their 2022 recruiting class. USC added only one via the transfer portal. Conerly has the ability to come in right away to push for playing time. And almost equally as important, it would give head coach Lincoln Riley and offensive line coach Josh Henson a major recruiting win for an elite West Coast offensive lineman. And a recruiting win for a big-time offensive lineman against the likes of Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma and Oregon is not something USC has experienced much of late.

USC’s 2022 Recruiting Class

USC’s 2022 recruiting class ranked No. 50 in the country, but would get a significant bump with the addition of Conerly. The Trojans already have Five-Star Plus+ cornerback Domani Jackson and four-star receiver C.J. Williams on campus as early enrollees.

USC also signed four-star safety Zion Branch, four-star offensive weapon Raleek Brown, four-star cornerback Fabian Ross, three-star EDGE Devan Thompkins, three-star linebacker Garrison Madden, and three-star punter Atticus Bertrams as prep prospects.

The incoming transfer class for the Trojans is led by former No. 1 overall prospect and quarterback Caleb Williams, wide receiver Mario Williams and linebacker Shane Lee.
