Super sophomore JuJu Watkins had another big game as the No. 4 USC Trojans ran their winning streak to eight games with a 78-58 win over the No. 23 Michigan Wolverines.

Watkins scored a game-high 31 points to go along with a game-high seven assists, five rebounds, three steals and a game-high three blocked shots. She committed just one turnover in 37 minutes on the floor.

The Trojans took just a three-point lead into the locker room at halftime and the Wolverines took a 36-34 lead with 8:06 remaining in the third quarter. With 3:13 remaining in the quarter and USC up just 43-41, Watkins went to work getting to the free throw line. She finished the game 13-for-14 from the stripe and a chunk of those came during a strong third quarter finish. Over those final three minutes, Watkins drilled eight free throws to help give the Trojans a 57-47 lead going into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter began with a huge run from USC forward Kiki Iriafen, who was limited to just 21 minutes due to foul trouble. But she still scored 18 points and eight of those came on a personal 8-0 run to start the fourth quarter as USC put the game away over the first three minutes of the frame. She scored 12 points in the quarter and the Wolverines were never able to make a game of it as the Trojans continued to stretch their lead late.

USC forward Rayah Marshall chipped in with 15 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals. The Trojans struggled again from three-point range, going just 4-for-14. But USC connected on 20 of 23 free-throw attempts and shot 46.6% from the field.

This marked USC’s first-ever Big Ten conference home win as the Trojans move to 2-0 in conference play following a road win at Oregon earlier this year. USC will stay home and host Nebraska on Wednesday, January 1 at 12 pm. The Huskers will be coming off a 91-54 loss to UCLA at Pauley Pavilion.
