Back on March 24, five-star Georgia defensive linemen Justus Terry and Isaiah Gibson shocked those following college football recruiting by announcing their verbal commitments to USC.

Although Terry is scheduled to take a USC visit June 21-23, Gibson wasn’t expected to take a USC official visit.

On Tuesday Gibson announced his decommitment from USC. Were told it was pretty mutual parting after he wouldn’t change official visit schedule.

Henderson will focus on other top USC targets willing to visit this Spring. Showing up on campus in June is extremely significant to Henderson and USC, as it shows true interest to a coaching staff.

The nation’s No. 1 ranked Edge, can continue focusing on schools closer to home and closer to his family. Odds are very high he ends up at Georgia and Steve Wiltfong submitted an On3 RPM Georgia flip prediction earlier this month.

Top USC Edge targets

Top Edge targets who’ve visited USC or plan to this week, are Hayden Lowe, Jared Smith, Randy Adirika, Justin Hill, Marco Jones and Gus Cordova.

Lowe and Cordova are committed to USC and the Trojans have a very good shot with Jones and Smith…but we’re told they’re also still in the race for Hill.

Both Terry and Gibson’s attraction to USC began for similar reasons, Coach Eric Henderson (aka Coach Henny).

“I like his coaching style and I feel like I can say the same thing Justus did, he’s the best of the best,” said Gibson about Eric Henderson. “He’s the best of the best in the business. So I just feel like that’s just a good opportunity to go to USC for sure.”

Rumors

There had been rumors swirling all over the internet about Gibson ultimately decommitting and ending up at Georgia, Auburn or Tennessee. He’s taken official visits to Georgia (5/31), South Carolina (6/7), Auburn (6/10) and Tennessee (6/14). He’s at Ohio State today (6/18) and Oklahoma this weekend (6/21).

On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons wrote this last week.

“Gibson is committed to USC, but he looks like he will be tough for Lincoln Riley to keep in this class. He is at Auburn the first part of this week, but Georgia continues to have some buzz around it as the biggest threat to the Trojans. Tennessee is another one to keep an eye on. He visits Knoxville on June 14. Ohio State and Oklahoma are two others on his list. This could still go a few different ways.”
