Big news has hit for USC recruiting on Friday afternoon as former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard is on campus in Los Angeles for a visit.

Howard posted a short video moments ago on his Instagram to confirm he was visiting USC.

Howard is ranked as the No. 3 quarterback in the transfer portal, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Portal player rankings. He is the No. 5 overall prospect in the transfer portal with a 94.49 prospect rating.

This is Howards’ second visit since entering the portal. Howard also visited the Miami Hurricanes.

Howard entered the transfer portal on Monday, November 27 as a graduate transfer. He has one season of eligibility remaining.

In four seasons with the Wildcats, Howard completed 59 percent of his passes while throwing for close to 5,800 yards and 48 touchdowns. He also accounted for nearly 1,000 rushing yards and 19 rushing touchdowns.

He served as a part-time starter in 2022 and took over as the Wildcats’ QB1 in 2023, leading them to an 8-4 record. Howard completed 61% of his passes for 2,643 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2023.

USC will be replacing 2022 Heisman winning quarterback Caleb Williams in the 2024 season as he moves onto the NFL. Currently on the roster is redshirt sophomore Miller Moss and former five-star true freshman Malachi Nelson.

In the 2023 season, Moss played in three games, completing 71.9% of his passes for 309 yards and one touchdown. He also had two carries for 19 yards and two touchdowns. Moss is expected to be the starter in the Holiday Bowl against Louisville in San Diego on Dec. 27.

Nelson appeared in one game, with one completion on three attempts. Nelson preserved his redshirt, so he has four years left available to play.

USC will also not be bringing in a quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.
