The first official kickoff time of the 2025 college football season has been announced for the USC Trojans.

It will be another night game for the annual Jeweled Shillelagh rivalry game between the Trojans and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. That game on Saturday, October 18 will kick off at 7:30 pm ET/4:30 pm PT and air live on NBC.

This will be the 96th meeting between the Trojans and Irish. And it continues the night game trend in South Bend. The 2011 game between the two teams marked the first Notre Dame home night game in 21 years. Since then, every game between USC and Notre Dame in South Bend has kicked off at 7:30 pm ET. And after winning that 2011 contest 31-17, the Trojans are 0-6 against the Irish on the road.

It’s been another rough spell for the Trojans in this rivalry series. While it hasn’t exactly reached the lows of 1983-1993, USC is just 3-7 over the last 10 games and just 1-6 over the last seven.

The trip to Notre Dame this fall will come during an interesting stretch of the schedule. After what look like it could be a tricky road trip to Illinois, the Trojans get a bye week to prepare for a visit from Michigan and then this trip to Notre Dame. Those two games are followed by another bye before USC again gets on the road to play Nebraska.
