Lee Corso picks USC Trojans to win national championship
Ahead of College GameDay on Saturday morning, longtime sports broadcaster and football analyst Lee Corso unveiled his picks for the College Football Playoff and the team he believes will win the national championship this year. If it goes his way, USC fans will be very pleased with their Trojans this season. Corso has them winning the whole thing.
Corso’s four College Football Playoff teams are Georgia, Michigan, Texas and USC. He picked Georgia to beat Texas in one semifinal and the Trojans to take down Michigan in the other one. He then projected the Trojans to beat the Bulldogs at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas for the national championship.
Corso said Georgia has “the most talented roster in college football.” But Corso likes the guy on the sideline calling the shots for the Trojans.
“Lincoln Riley, the best play-caller in college football,” Corso said of USC’s head coach.
Herbstreit then mentioned the lack of defense the Trojans displayed in 2022. Corso shrugged off that potential pitfall.

“They don’t need one,” Corso said of a strong defense. “They’re going to score so many points.”
No other College GameDay analyst picked the Trojans to make the Playoff when those picks were released last week.
Desmond Howard has Alabama, Florida State, Michigan and Texas, with Michigan beating Alabama for the title. Pat McAfee has an all-Big Ten/SEC playoff, with Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State. McAfee sees Alabama over Georgia in the final. And Herbstreit went with the same Big Ten/SEC quartet as McAfee, with Alabama beating Ohio State in the national championship game.
Corso was high on USC last season as well. In the College GameDay preseason show before the 2022 season, Corso said the Trojans were his “surprise team of the season” and predicted Caleb Williams would win the Heisman Trophy. Herbstreit immediately followed by saying, “I don’t see it. I don’t see him winning the Heisman.”
