MarShawn Lloyd continues to impress at Senior Bowl
USC running back MarShawn Lloyd turned in an impressive week of practices in Mobile, Alabama ahead of the Senior Bowl this Saturday.
On Friday, Lloyd was named the top running back on the National team, according to Jim Nagy, the Executive Director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl. The award was voted on by Lloyd’s linebacker teammates and a top player from each position group for both teams was named on Friday.
The other running backs on the National team include Isaiah Davis of North Dakota State, Vidal Kimani of Troy and Rasheen Ali of Marshall.
The Senior Bowl will kick off Saturday at 10 am PT from Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile. It will air live on NFL Network.

USC will be represented by two players in the game, in Lloyd and wide receiver Brenden Rice. Rice had a solid week of practice but was beaten out for top National receiver honors by Western Kentucky’s Malachi Corley. The Senior Bowl will be an interesting watch for USC fans considering the quarterbacks running the National team’s offense are all Trojan rivals in Bo Nix of Oregon, Sam Hartman of Notre Dame and Michael Penix of Washington.
Both Lloyd and Rice will be looking to make some plays during the game and help draft stocks that already seem to be trending in a positive direction.
ESPN’s Jordan Reid had this to say about Lloyd:
“Running back is one of the hardest positions to stand out in when participating at these all-star games, but the most consistent of the bunch has been USC’s MarShawn Lloyd. He really impressed during the team portion of practice, displaying burst. And he had a cutback move at one point that resulted in a lot of excitement from the crowd. He ran for 820 yards and nine scores this season. Lloyd carries a fourth-round grade, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise if he’s selected in the third.”
