The Big Ten Conference announced Thursday the complete list of football student-athletes scheduled to attend the 2024 Big Ten Football Media Days presented by Old National Bank. The USC Trojans will be represented by quarterback Miller Moss, offensive lineman Jonah Monheim and safety Kamari Ramsey.

With the additions of Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington this season, this will be the first time the Big Ten uses a three-day format for Football Media Days. It will run from July 23-25 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The schedule of teams will be:

July 23: Illinois, Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue, Rutgers, Wisconsin

July 24: Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State, UCLA, USC

July 25: Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon, Washington

For USC, there isn’t much surprise in the way of picks on offense. Quarterback Miller Moss took over as a team leader when he took over the starting quarterback job from Caleb Williams. He has just one start in his career, but both coaches and teammates spoke about the way Moss handled that role during bowl preparation and then held it throughout winter workouts and spring ball.

Monheim was a team captain last season and very likely will be voted one again this fall. He’ll start at center for an offensive line that needs to play as a more cohesive unit than the one that took the field for the Trojans during much of the 2023 season.

The defensive selection was going to be an interesting one. USC didn’t take a defensive representative in 2021. Each of the past two years, it’s been a newly-acquired transfer linebacker. Shane Lee went for USC in 2022 and Mason Cobb was in attendance last year. It seemed obvious that it would be another transfer representing the USC defense at this media day. But the exact choice wasn’t as clear. Linebacker Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, safety Akili Arnold and cornerback John Humphrey are all seniors coming off impressive 2023 seasons and expected to grab starting roles for USC this fall. Instead, it’s the redshirt sophomore Ramsey, who certainly belonged in that group of potential choices.

Ramsey came to USC from UCLA and said previously that defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn making that move played a role in his decision as well. The Trojans’ secondary is expected to take a significant step forward this year and Ramsey will play more than a small part there.
