USC QB Miller Moss | Bye week

Miller Moss has started just three games for the USC Trojans and it’s clear that his focus is solely on this program and this year’s team. But in those three games, which include two wins over ranked teams, he’s done enough to put himself squarely in the discussion of fast risers well ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.

Pro Football Focus listed Moss as one of eight players to raise their stock through two weeks of the college football season. And even more significantly, both CBS Sports and the Draft Network have Moss firmly settled as a first-round pick in their recent mock drafts.

CBS sends Moss to the New York Giants with the third overall selection in the draft, saying: “Moss lands with another franchise likely (see: moving toward clearly) in need of a quarterback upgrade. He has the pocket tools to thrive in the NFL.”

Draft Network has Moss going just a little bit later, at No. 13 to the Seattle Seahawks: “The Seahawks found a good transitional piece with Geno Smith, but the truth is, he is in the back half of his career. The Seahawks have done a good job drafting and have talented young pieces on both sides of the football. So with this pick, they draft Miller Moss, a quarterback who can grow with those young pieces and make the Seahawks a key factor in the NFC for the next 10 years.”

Moss is a redshirt junior with another year of eligibility with the Trojans. He’s given no public indication as to which way he might be leaning in terms of returning for another season or heading to the NFL after this one. The Trojans have seen quarterbacks go both ways when it comes to leaving early or returning to school. Both Matt Leinart and Matt Barkley looked as though they could leave as juniors but elected to return for another year at USC. Mark Sanchez and Sam Darnold both left early for the NFL. Sanchez spent one full season as the starter for the Trojans, had one year of eligibility remaining and went as the No. 5 overall pick. Darnold became the starter during his redshirt freshman season and then held the position the following year. He had two years of eligibility left and was the No. 3 overall selection.

In two games this season, Moss has completed 72.7% of his passes for 607 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Moss and the Trojans still have plenty of work to do this season to reach any individual and team goals they have set. They are on a bye week before traveling to Ann Arbor to face Michigan in what will be USC’s first-ever Big Ten conference game.
