USC quarterback Miller Moss will enter the transfer portal and use his final year of eligibility at another program. Moss announced the decision on social media.

“Being a USC Trojan was a lifelong dream of mine,” Moss wrote in a post. “Puttin gon the cardinal and gold and competing on behalf of my teammates and school is something I will forever take pride in. I poured everything I have into this.”

Moss will enter the portal as a graduate student and should be one of the most coveted players in the portal this offseason.

This was the expected outcome for Moss and the Trojans once head coach Lincoln Riley made the move to backup quarterback Jayden Maiava with three games left in the season.

Moss is a fan favorite for the Trojans, signing with USC as a four-star quarterback in the 2021 class along with four-star quarterback Jaxson Dart. Moss stuck it out through multliple quarterback battles, watching Dart take over the starting spot from Kedon Slovis as a true freshman and then seeing superstar signal-caller Caleb Williams transfer in from Oklahoma when Riley took over ahead of the 2022 season.

Moss worked hard and waited for his opportunity, taking advantage of Williams sitting out last December’s Holiday Bowl. He responded with six touchdown passes and 372 yards passing in a big win over Louisville.

Moss then saw Maiava transfer in this past winter from UNLV and the two battled in a quarterback competition during the spring. Moss was always seen as the likely starter and he did indeed win out. He opened the season with a brilliant performance in a win against LSU, throwing for 378 yards and a few clutch passes in a 27-20 win. But Moss couldn’t shake some critical interceptions throughout the year, throwing a back-breaking second-half interception in losses to Michigan, Minnesota, Penn State, Maryland and Washington.

USC had a bye week after the loss to Washington dropped the Trojans to 4-5 on the season and Riley elected to go with Maiava the rest of the season.

Moss finishes his USC career with 3,469 yards passing on 65.9% completions, with 27 touchdowns against 10 interceptions.
