Musings with Arledge Solo Edition: Rodney McNeill Interview
Today I interview Rodney McNeill, a longtime friend and Trojan tailback from the early 1970’s. I talk to Rod about his legendary high school career, his recruitment, and his time at USC.
Rod was a major contributor on the 1972 national championship team, but a major, freak injury he suffered likely kept his career from being what he and USC hoped it would be.
We also discuss his good friend Sam Bam and 1970 Alabama game, what changed that made the 1972 run possible, and his brother Fred, who died of complications related to brain injuries, and Rod’s view of the future of football in light of what we now know about head injuries.
