The Spring football roster for the USC Trojans was updated on the eve of the first practice. With it, 21 new scholarship Trojans are making their first appearances and officially have their new numbers. Here’s a look at the incoming transfers and early enrollees to USC and what uniform number they’ll be sporting this spring.

Transfer Portal Additions

No. 0 – running back MarShawn Lloyd

This is a number change for Lloyd, who wore No. 1 at South Carolina last season. The No. 0 jersey on offense was open due to wide receiver Terrell Bynum exhausting his college eligibility.

No. 6 – Anthony Lucas

Lucas wore No. 8 last season as a true freshman at Texas A&M. That number is taken on the defensive side by safety Zion Branch. No. 6 was the only available single-digit jersey on defense and USC fans get the always fun sight of a 6-foot-5, 295-pound player wearing a single-digit.

No. 10 – Jamil Muhammad

Muhammad wore No. 9 at Georgia State but that one is taken by Raesjon Davis. The No. 10 jersey is open due to Ralen Goforth’s transfer to Washington.

No. 13 – Mason Cobb

It’s another new number for Cobb, who wore No. 38 early in his Oklahoma State career and then No. 0 last season. If he’s as good and impactful as advertised, No. 13 could be the man at the center of USC’s offense and defense in 2023.

No. 15 – Dorian Singer

No numbers are coming out of retirement this time, it would appear. After Jordan Addison pulled Carson Palmer’s No. 3 out, Singer won’t be in No. 5, which he wore at Arizona last season. He started his Wildcat career as a walk-on in No. 24.

No. 17 – Christian Roland-Wallace

Roland-Wallace wore No. 4 at Arizona, but that’s taken by fellow defensive back Max Williams. No. 17 is open with safety Micah Croom’s college eligibility over.

No. 37 – Eddie Czaplicki

Czaplicki is another player on his third number now. He wore No. 38 and No. 17 at Arizona State.

No. 52 – Jarrett Kingston

Kingston keeps his No. 52 that he wore at Washington State. No USC player on either side of the ball wore No. 52 last season.

No. 71 – Michael Tarquin

Tarquin wore No. 70 at Florida, but the move to No. 71 at USC sure seems like an obvious one. His father-in-law is Tony Boselli, former No. 71 USC offensive lineman and member of both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame. Cooper Lovelace moves to No. 62 to open up the number for Tarquin.

No. 92 – Kyon Barrs

Barrs gets No. 92 again, a jersey number he wore at Arizona.

No. 99 – Jack Sullivan

Likewise, Sullivan is again in No. 99, which he wore at Purdue last season.

Early Enrollee True Freshmen

No. 1 – Zachariah Branch

Branch wore No. 1 at Bishop Gorman and takes the jersey over at USC. He won’t ever draw physical comparisons to former USC wide receiver Mike Williams, but he’ll go to work right away looking to chase down his statistical marks for the Trojans.

No. 8 – Malachi Nelson

Miller Moss already has one win over the true freshman. Nelson wore No. 7 in high school but Moss will keep it as Nelson slides into No. 8.

No. 21 – Quinten Joyner

Joyner wore No. 0 at Manor (Texas) High School last season. He goes with LenDale White’s No. 21 as a freshman at USC.

No. 24 – Makai Lemon

Lemon wore No. 14 at Los Alamitos. Sophomore running back Raleek Brown is in that jersey at USC, so it’s not a big jump to No. 24.

No. 24 – Christian Pierce

Pierce wore No. 6 at Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) High School last season. No. 24 is actually the next number in line that was available and not grabbed by an incoming transfer. It was worn last year by linebacker Julien Simon, who is now at Tulsa.

No. 25 – Tackett Curtis

Curtis is another newcomer who wore No. 4 last season. No. 25 is probably a better fit if we’re talking about how many tackles he’ll average per game once he regularly sees the field. It’s also easier to just change one number if he plays his way into No. 55 eventually.

No. 27 – A’Marion Peterson

Peterson wore No. 22 last season for Wichita Falls (Texas) Hirschi High School. That one belongs to Darwin Barlow. No. 27 wasn’t worn by anybody on offense last season.

No. 29 – Maliki Crawford

Crawford wore No. 14 in high school, which belongs to fellow cornerback Jacobe Covington on the defensive side. He gets No. 29 as Xavion Alford is now at Arizona State.

No. 44 – Sam Greene

Greene wore No. 8 last year at Baltimore St. Francis Academy. No. 44 opened up when Tuasivi Nomura transferred to Fresno State.

No. 72 – Elijah Paige

Paige wore No. 71 at Phoenix Pinnacle last season. He takes over No. 72 and has big shoes to fill replacing All-American Andrew Vorhees.
