The 2024 spring football roster is out for the USC Trojans and it features a number of new uniform numbers. Here’s a look at all the changes returning players made, plus the uniform numbers for incoming freshmen and transfer players.

No. 0 – Running back Quinten Joyner

The offensive No. 0 stays in the USC running back family and Joyner grabs it following last season when MarShawn Lloyd wore it. Joyner gives up No. 21 to get the number he wore in high school.

No. 0 – Safety Akili Arnold

Arnold changes schools but keeps his number, staying in the same No. 0 that he wore at Oregon State last season.

No. 1 – Defensive back Jaylin Smith

Smith goes all the way back to his Alemany High School days in grabbing the No. 1 jersey after Domani Jackson left for Alabama.

No. 2 – Wide receiver Duce Robinson

It’s deuce for Duce as Robinson moves from No. 19 to No. 2.

No. 2 – Defensive lineman Isaiah Raikes

There’s just something about big guys in small numbers. With Romello Height entering the transfer portal, No. 2 was open and Raikes gets it with the Trojans.

No. 4 – Running back Jo’Quavious ‘Woody’ Marks

Marks wore No. 7 at Mississippi State but that’s on the back of USC’s likely starting quarterback right now. He takes over No. 4, which was worn at USC by another standout running back from the Southeastern United States in Joe McKnight.

No. 4 – Linebacker Easton Mascarenas-Arnold

Mascarenas-Arnold won’t wear the No. 55 at USC that he wore at Oregon State. Instead, he’ll be in No. 4.

No. 6 – Wide receiver Makai Lemon

Lemon moves on from the No. 24 jersey and into single digits by taking over the offensive No. 6 vacated by running back Austin Jones.

No. 7 – Safety Kamari Ramsey

Ramsey wore No. 27 for UCLA, which still belongs to Bryson Shaw at USC. He wore No. 3 and No. 33 in high school — both numbers retired at USC — so he’ll drop the 2 and land in No. 7 for the Trojans.

No. 8 – Wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane

Lane also moves into single digits at wide receiver, going from last year’s No. 89 to now No. 8. He’s certain to invite some Dwayne Jarrett comparisons with that big frame at outside receiver and now wearing the No. 8 jersey.

No. 14 – Quarterback Jayden Maiava

Maiava wore No. 1 at UNLV but that’s not changing hands at USC.

No. 15 – Wide receiver Jaden Richardson

Richardson wore No. 5 at Tufts but that number isn’t exactly available at USC. He’ll go with No. 15 after that number spent a year on the shoulders of fellow transfer receiver Dorian Singer last season.

No. 16 – Punter Eddie Czaplicki

Czaplicki wore No. 17 at Arizona State and No. 37 at USC this past season. He’s now in No. 16 for the Trojans.

No. 17 – Cornerback DeCarlos Nicholson

The No. 17 jersey on defense goes from transfer cornerback Christian Roland-Wallace to transfer cornerback DeCarlos Nicholson.

No. 18 – Tight end Joey Olsen

The No. 18 jersey stays among USC tight ends as it moves from Jude Wolfe to incoming freshman Joey Olsen.

No. 19 – Wide receiver Xavier Jordan

Jordan wore No. 11 at Sierra Canyon, another number not available with the Trojans. He’ll open his USC career in No. 19.

No. 19 – Cornerback John Humphrey

Humphrey wore No. 6 in high school and at UCLA, but he’ll wear No. 19 for the Trojans with Jaylin Smith opening it up by moving down to No. 1.

No. 21 – Running back Bryan Jackson

The true freshman big back takes over the No. 21 jersey vacated by Joyner. It’s a solid number for a back with Jackson’s size and still brings to mind the Thunder of LenDale White.

No. 21 – Linebacker Desman Stephens II

Another standout who wore No. 5 in high school and has to switch upon arriving at USC.

No. 22 – Running back A’Marion Peterson

Peterson moves from No. 27 down to No. 22.

No. 24 – Tight end Carson Tabaracci

Tabaracci joins the list of players dropping into lower numbers as returners. He moves all the way down from No. 84 last year to No. 24 this season. It’s much closer to the No. 2 that he wore in high school.

No. 25 – Cornerback Marcelles Williams

Williams begins his USC career in No. 25.

No. 26 – Linebacker Elijah Newby

Newby wore No. 11 in high school and will take over No. 26 for the Trojans with Fabian Ross now at Hawaii via the transfer portal.

No. 28 – Safety Jarvis Boatwright Jr.

Boatwright keeps the 2 from his high school jersey and adds an 8. No. 28 stays among the USC safeties after Xamarion Gordon left via the transfer portal.

No. 30 – Safety Marquis Gallegos

Gallegos will wear No. 30 with the Trojans, made available by the departure of linebacker Chris Thompson Jr.

No. 31 – Long snapper Hank Pepper

Defensive lineman Tyrone Taleni and quarterback Isaac Ward both wore No. 31 last season. Pepper wore 31 at Michigan State during his time with the Spartans.

No. 37 – Defensive end Lorenzo Cowan

Cowan starts his freshman year in No. 37 as Devan Thompkins moves to a higher number.

No. 49 – Defensive end Kameryn Fountain

This jersey sat empty in the year after Tuli Tuipulotu left USC for the NFL Draft and turned in an outstanding season for the Los Angeles Chargers. It goes to Kameryn Fountain now, who will have some serious expectations in wearing that as a top recruit.

No. 58 – Offensive tackle Kalolo Ta’aga

No. 58 is more well known at USC on the defensive side of the ball, but after Lofa Tatupu and Rey Maualuga wore it, there’s an expectation for what kind of mindset that jersey brings out of whoever wears it. Freshman Kalolo Ta’aga starts his USC career in it at offensive tackle.

No. 71 – Offensive lineman Jason Zandamela

With No. 77 occupied, USC gives its other notable offensive line number to freshman center Jason Zandamela, who looks like he could have a fantastic career in cardinal and gold.

No. 74 – Offensive lineman Justin Tauanuu

Freshman tackle Justoni Tauanuu gets to keep his high school number and will start his USC career in the No. 74 jersey out on the edge.

No. 97 – Defensive lineman Jide Abasiri

Abasiri wore No. 99 in high school and the number was open following the departure of Jack Sullivan. But he’ll start in No. 97 with the Trojans to open his college career.

No. 98 – Defensive lineman Devan Thompkins

Thompkins trades in No. 37 for No. 98.

No. 99 – Defensive lineman Nate Clifton

Clifton wore No. 15 and No. 90 at Vanderbilt, but both are taken by returning players with the Trojans. He’s the second straight transfer from a black and gold program to wear No. 99 with the Trojans after former Purdue lineman Jack Sullivan did so last season.
