New USC head coach Eric Musselman quickly lands first Trojans commitment
It took new USC coach Eric Musselman less than a day to land his first commitment after taking over the Trojans. UMass transfer forward Josh Cohen had been committed to Musselman at Arkansas and evidently got the green light to follow the coach to USC. He announced on social media that he’s flipped his commitment from Arkansas to USC.
The 6-foot-10, 220-pound senior averaged 15.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season for the Minutemen. The Lincroft, New Jersey native is currently ranked as the No. 42 overall player in On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings.

“I believe in [Eric Musselman],” Cohen posted to X. “Let’s work.”
Musselman will have a ton of roster room to work with this offseason. The Trojans lose Boogie Ellis and Josh Morgan from the roster. Kobe Johnson, Kijani Wright and Oziyah Sellers have already entered the transfer portal. And two of the three 2024 signees in USC’s class have requested releases from their NLIs with the Trojans.
This past season was Cohen’s first with UMass after he spent three years at Saint Francis. As a junior, he averaged 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, .9 steals, .9 blocks and shot 58.5% from the floor.
