True freshman sensation JuJu Watkins scored 33 points as the No. 10 USC Trojans used an early 19-0 run in a lopsided 88-51 win over the Oregon Ducks.

It’s the fifth win in a row for the Trojans, who will now face a big-time test with a three-game run against nationally-ranked opponents Oregon State, Colorado and Utah.

But the Trojans didn’t overlook the Ducks on Friday night. USC led 57-21 at halftime after dominating the first quarter 29-7 and keeping the pressure on in the second, winning it 28-14. At half, Watkins alone was beating Oregon, 24-21.

It was the 21st time this season Watkins has led the Trojans in scoring. And she continues to put herself in the same sentences as some of USC’s best-ever women’s basketball players. She’s completely obliterated the USC record for 30-point games by a freshman, which was three. She’s now tied with Miller’s single-season USC record of 10 30-point games in a year.

Ten Trojans scored in this one as 11 saw playing time. Kaitlyn Davis registered her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Rayah Marshall grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds to go with four points, three blocks, three assists and two steals. Despite 18 rebounds for Oregon’s Phillipina Kyei, the Trojans still managed to outrebound the Ducks 45-40. USC won the turnover battle 12-5 and held Oregon to just 1-of-10 from three-point range.

In hitting six of seven free throws, Watkins now holds the record for most free throws made in a season by a USC freshman. She’s third all-time in three-pointers by a Trojan freshman.

This was USC’s first win in Eugene since the 2014 season. The Trojans had lost eight games in a row there.

Up Next for USC

The Trojans will stay on the road and head to Corvallis, where they’ll take on No. 11 Oregon State on Sunday at noon. The game will air live on Pac-12 Networks.

The Trojans are looking for a season sweep of the Beavers. USC posted a 56-54 win at Galen Center back in early January.

Following the game at Oregon State, USC will come back home to take on No. 8 Colorado and No. 22 Utah next week. Those two swept the Trojans back in January when USC traveled to Salt Lake City and Boulder.
