On3 4-star LB Desman Stephens commits to USC
Just one week after taking an official visit to USC Clarkston (Mich.) 2024 linebacker Desman Stephens II has announced his commitment to the Trojans.
He is currently ranked as the No. 401 overall prospect and No. 36 linebacker in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 8 player in Michigan.
On3 is much higher on Stephens than the rest of the industry, ranking him as a four-star prospect and the No. 24 linebacker in the nation.
Stephens has had a fairly active recruitment, holding 16 offers to his name. Along with USC, he has Purdue, Louisville, Boston College, Michigan State, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Duke, Indiana, Virginia, Colorado State, Toledo, Central Michigan, Bowling Green, Air Force, and Army.
Stephens was once committed to Boston College.
Stephens is the second linebacker to commit to USC in the 2024 class. At 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, he gives the Trojans an athletic, versatile defender that has a natural instinct to hunt the ball and bring down ball carriers.
On the defensive side of the ball he turned in an extremely impressive senior season. He finished with 88 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, six pass deflections and three interceptions. He also had one fumble forced and recovery.
