Photos: The New USC Transfers at Spring Ball Practice Three
USC was on the practice field on Wednesday afternoon for its third official spring ball practice. Media could be in attendance for the first time to get its first look at the 21 new Trojans taking the field as part of the transfer and early enrollee freshman class. Each one of transfers is likely going to be a significant part of the Trojans’ success in 2023. Here’s a look at what USC and head coach Lincoln Riley are getting with the majority of that group.
Kyon Barrs
The 6-foot-2, 290-pound Barrs has one year of eligibility remaining after coming to USC from Arizona this offseason. In four years with the Wildcats, he posted 102 tackles, including 12.5 for losses (with 5 sacks) while appearing in 38 games with 23 starts. Barrs checked in at No. 3 on the WeAreSC spring ball countdown of intriguing Trojans this spring.
Anthony Lucas
The 6-foot-5, 295-pound Lucas spent one season at Texas A&M where he collected seven tackles in seven games for the Aggies. He was a major recruit in the 2022 class and is expected to see the field early and often for the Trojans. Lucas came it at No. 5 on the list of intriguing USC Trojans heading into spring ball.
Jack Sullivan
Sullivan will look to make a major impact along the defensive line in his final year of eligibility. In five years at Purdue, he had 85 tackles, including 13.5 for losses (with 9.0 sacks), 7 pass deflections and 1 forced fumble while appearing in 46 games with 19 starts. USC has to replace the production of both Tuli Tuipulotu and Nick Figuero up front this season. The hope is that Sullivan can provide some of that. He was No. 15 on the WeAreSC Countdown earlier this spring.
Jamil Muhammad
Muhammad will look to work himself into the mix at rush end for the Trojans this spring and fall. He has two years of eligibility remaining as he continues developing on the defensive side of the ball after playing quarterback in high school. Muhammad had 70 tackles, including 11.0 for losses (with 7.5 sacks) and 1 INT, 4 pass deflections, 3 forced fumbles and 1 forced fumble while appearing in 34 games with 10 starts in three year at Georgia State. Another newcomer to make the WeAreSC spring ball countdown, Muhammad came in at No. 14.
Mason Cobb
Cobb should fill a major need for a talented, experienced player to help out at inside linebacker. He’ll have two years of eligibility with the Trojans. Cobb finished last season with 96 tackles at Oklahoma State. FOr his career, he has 108 tackles, including 16.0 for losses (with 3 sacks) and 1 interception, 1 pass deflection and 1 forced fumble while appearing in 31 games with 13 starts. Cobb is one of the most anticipated newcomers this year, checking in at No. 2 on the WeAreSC spring ball countdown and looking to help a defense that gave up big plays and points last season.

Jarrett Kingston
The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Kingston stays in the Pac-12 as he moves from Washington State to USC. He’ll have one season of eligibility with the Trojans after starting 26 games and appearing in 11 others with the Cougars. He brings some positional versatility as he’s played both left guard and left tackle. Kingston started 10 games at left guard and 11 at left tackle. He started outside the all last fall before an injury cut his season short. As a potential starter on the line, Kingston was the No. 8 pick on the WeAreSC spring ball countdown.
Michael Tarquin
Tarquin is another major addition to an offensive line that will need some restocking after three starters departed this offseason. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound lineman played mostly right tackle at Florida but can also play on the left side. USC is likely to use a number offensive line groupings this spring but it would be a surprise if Tarquin doesn’t grab a starting spot somewhere this fall. He checked in at No. 10 on the WeAreSC spring ball countdown due to the Trojans needing to lock up both tackle spots.
MarShawn Lloyd
The 5-foot-9, 215-pound Lloyd has been injury prone, but a dynamic running back when he’s on the field. In three years at South Carolina, he appeared in 21 games (with 8 starts) and ran for 801 yards and 10 touchdowns on 175 carries. He also caught 21 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns touchdowns. USC has to fill the hole left by Travis Dye’s departure and Lloyd can be a feature back for the Trojans if he can find his way to the top of a really good running back depth chart. There are some major expectations for him as he checked in at No. 7 on the WeAreSC spring ball countdown.
Dorian Singer
In two years at Arizona, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound Singer caught 84 passes for 1,406 yardsand six touchdowns. He’s a former walk-on who posted one of four 1,000-yard seasons among Pac-12 receivers last year. USC has a really good group of wide receivers yet again, but Singer has a chance to show he’s the best. He has two years of eligibility remaining, but if he turns in a 2023 similar to his 2022, he might only need one to show he’s NFL-ready. Singer came in at No. 13 on the WeAreSC spring ball countdown as the Trojans need to replace Jordan Addison and Singer could be that guy.
