Rashaun Agee powers USC to College Basketball Crown 1st round win over Tulane

The season continues for head coach Eric Musselman and the USC Trojans as Rashaun Agee scored 27 points in a dominant 89-60 1st round win of the College Basketball Crown tournament over Tulane. The tournament’s first two rounds take place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Agee hit 10-of-12 shots from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point range and connected on 4-of-5 free throws to lead all scorers. He also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and blocked a game-high four shots. The Trojans were without Wesley Yates and Chibuzo Agbo. Both were listed as questionable going into the game.
USC never trailed against Tulane and had built a 22-11 lead on a Saint Thomas layup with 7:54 remaining in the first half. Desmond Claude hit a shot at the first-half buzzer to give the Trojans a 39-24 lead at halftime.
Tulane never closed to within single digits during the second half.
Claude finished with nine points, six rebounds and five assists. Thomas had 14 points and a game-high nine assists. The Trojans got 10 points from Clark Slajchert, eight points from Jalen Shelley, seven points and six rebounds from Matt Knowling and two three-pointers apiece from Bryce Pope and Harrison Hornery. Walk-on Brit Burden scored the first points of his USC career late in the game.

The Trojans move onto the quarterfinals now where they will take on the Villanova Wildcats on Thursday, April 3 at 6:30 pm. That game will air live on FS1.
Villanova opened its tournament run with a blowout win over Colorado, 85-64.
Teams that make the semifinals of the CBC are guaranteed $50,000 from the tournament’s NIL pool. The tournament runner-up will receive $100,000 and the champion will get $300,000.
