Rodrick Pleasant Includes USC Among Top Six Schools
Four-star cornerback Rodrick Pleasant named his top six schools on Thursday as the nation’s No. 111 prospect in the 2023 On3 Consensus continues through his recruiting process.
Boston College, Cal, Oregon, Penn State, UCLA and USC are the six programs still in the mix for the 5-foot-10, 170-pound corner.
Pleasant took an official visit to Boston College in early June. Cal, Penn State, Oregon and USC will likely receive his four other official visits, Rodrick told On3’s Chad Simmons earlier this week.
Pleasant is a very good football player and he’s also a standout on the track. His performance there this past spring made him one of On3’s “spring riser” recruits.
“Rodrick Pleasant cemented his status as the fastest prospect in the 2023 cycle a few weeks back,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said in early June. “The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder won the California state meet in the 100 meters with a blistering 10.14 second wind-legal mark. The time also broke the overall state record. The Gardena (Calif.) Serra speedster also won the 200 meters crown, with a 20.56 second time.”
Pleasant is very familiar with the USC campus and has taken multiple unofficial visits to see the Trojans. Serra High School has been good to the Trojans over the years. But it’s been a few classes since USC has signed a Cavalier. Nickelback Max Williams was the last Serra standout to sign with USC. He did so as part of the 2019 class. He and wide receiver John Jackson III are the only two player from Serra on the USC roster right now.

USC’s 2023 Recruiting Class
USC holds a commitment from a talented four-star cornerback in Braxton Myers. But adding another is certainly a possibility.
The Trojans are in the top three for four-star cornerback Maliki Crawford who just recently announced his top list.
USC chased a number of other cornerbacks in this class but have seen more than a few commit elsewhere. Four-star Christian Gray announced his commitment to Notre Dame. Four-star Dijon Johnson pledged to Ohio State. And local standout Daylen Austin is locked in with LSU.
The Trojans did add some cornerback help for the future in the 2022 class. USC signed Five-Star Plus+ cornerback Domani Jackson and brought in four-star defensive back Fabian Ross. Incoming Colorado transfer Mekhi Blackmon has just one year of eligibility remaining, but Washington transfer Jacobe Covington and Oklahoma transfer Latrell McCutchin have several years left to play.
