The USC hype train might have shifted into its highest gear on Friday, as rapper and celebrity Trojan fan Snoop Dogg officially declared the Trojans back, and himself back with the program.

Of course, Snoop Dogg’s support doesn’t doesn’t mean much when it comes to USC’s on-field performance, but it does legitimately check one of the boxes that come with USC reaching its full potential.

When the USC hype train is moving full speed, the Trojans are playing for conference championships, in the mix for national championships, boasting multiple potential national award winners, selling out the Coliseum and hosting celebrities on the sidelines and the stands.

USC has already earned a spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game next Friday. The Trojans are the No. 6 team in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings. USC could move into the top four with a win against Notre Dame. Quarterback Caleb Williams is one of two frontrunners for the Heisman Trophy. Defensive lineman Tuli Tuipulotu is a finalist for multiple defensive awards. The Coliseum will see the most fans it has all season for the game tonight. And a sellout is a definite possibility. And now Snoop Dogg is connecting with the program and the USC starting quarterback.

The Playbook

In the video he posted, it shows Snoop Dogg laying out something of a four-point plan for the USC program. And to be fair to USC fans, this was not a unique thought at the time he said it.

He said USC needed to fire the head coach, “get you a quarterback that can move,” install a new system and bring back former player to the program. Those thoughts are interspersed with clips of Athletic Director Mike Bohn welcoming Lincoln Riley to USC, several highlights of Caleb Williams, linebacker Shane Lee in the weight room and Hall of Fame safety Ronnie Lott addressing the team after a practice.

There are still a few wins out there USC players would love to get this season. It starts today against Notre Dame. And then the Trojans will want a win in the Pac-12 Championship game against Oregon, Utah or Washington. But regardless of what happens, it’s tough to see this season as anything other than a major step forward.
