J'Onre Reed

Syracuse starting offensive lineman J’Onre Reed entered the NCAA Transfer Portal just before the new year on December 31. This week took official visits to UCLA, USC and announced his commitment to the Trojans on Wednesday.

Reed transferred to Syracuse ahead of the 2023 campaign after beginning his career at Hutchinson Community College. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Reed played and started in 12 games for the Orange this season. He also started every game of the 2023 campaign. He was Syrcause’s highest-graded pass blocker among players who played more than 300 offensive snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. He played 815 offensive snaps and was responsible for just one sack.

Another possible visitor

Last week Steve Wiltfong reported that Chattanooga transfer receiver Sam Phillips added a USC visit to his schedule. His agents Darren Wilson and Chase Moss told him and Pete Nakos that Phillips would take an official visit to USC on Jan. 3.

That visit obviously didn’t happen, but we got the latest from Phillips on Monday night after asking him if he still plans to visit USC.

“We are trying to figure some things out with the transfer of my credits,” he said.

USC’s 2025 transfer class thus far

As of Sam Huard announcing his USC commitment on Monday, the Trojans now have seven transfer signees for 2025. The list includes Huard, Jordan, Wingfield, DL Keeshawn Silverfrom Kentucky, Jamaal Jarrett from Georgia, RB Eli Sanders from New Mexico and Safety DJ Harvey from San Jose State.

WeAreSC will provide THE LATEST on this week’s transfer visitors throughout the week.
