One of the many recent 2025 prospects to make a visit to USC is Only (Md.) Good Counsel safety Faheem Delane, who stopped by USC on June 14.

Delane is the No. 89 overall prospect and No. 9 safety in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Maryland.

WeAreSC was able to catch up with Delane to get his a recap and thoughts on his first visit to USC.

The visit gave Delane plenty of time to soak in what USC offers

Delane was out in Los Angeles for other events as many recruits are this week. But that didn’t stop him from spending the majority of the day on campus at USC. He was also given priority treatment, spending time with the staff and players.

“I was there for like 5-6 hours. I talked to Coach Grinch and Coach Riley. Me and Coach Grinch broke down some plays, some film on the defense they run. And ot to talk to like a lot of players like Calen Bullock and all the safeties. And Zach Branch. So yeah, it was a good time.”

Something you will see top targets get the opportunity to do is watch film with the coaches. Both the teams film and their own. Delane did this for some with Grinch.

“I was watching a lot of Calen Bullock and how they put the 2-high safeties. So yeah, [Grinch] was showing me like all their plays and then he flipped on my film. He showed me how my film would convert to their defense and all that. So yeah, I could definitely see myself there.”

Delane no stranger to the west coast

While Delane lives about as east as you can get in America, but he is quite familiar with being on the west coast. And he even has a reason to make the trip.

“I got a lot of family out in California, so I’m out there a lot to visit. So that’s why [USC] is a school of high interest. So I came back to see some family, so I had to go see USC.
