Top 150 Mater Dei IOL DeAndre Carter Back at USC Saturday (3/25)
In late 2021, On3 introduced the Recruiting Prediction Machine. It weights visits, expert predictions and media posts to track recruits’ interest, expressed as a percentage of how likely the prospect is to commit to a given school.
WeAreSC published an article last week showing where USC stands with numerous California recruits according to the RPM. One of those players was Mater Dei IOL DeAndre Carter.
If I was asked to list the top prospects from southern California the Trojans should prioritize, Carter would be among them. His teammate and Top 100 OT Brandon Baker would too. Those two have been playing together since middle school.

On3 NIL Valuation: 94k
USC leads for Mater Dei’s DeAndre Carter, the RPM gives the Trojans a 53.5% chance to land him. Carter, standing at 6-3 340 pounds, has been to USC eight times but hasn’t made it back to campus since USC’s game against Notre Dame on November 26th.

Carter informed WeAreSC Friday night of his plans to attend USC’s Spring Practice on Saturday (3/25).

Feeling the energy at USC
Like teammate and great friend Brandon Baker, Carter has visited USC often. Carter has been on campus at least eight times and attended two games at the Coliseum. As mentioned above, his last time at USC was four months ago.
Carter shared his thoughts on USC and what he’s seen from the Trojans on the field.
“The energy is definitely high,” said Carter. “They’re also a lot more explosive on offense than past years. Like Baker said, the defense started a little shaky the first game, but they got it together. I was a little scared for a bit. They look really good.”
When Carter is watching USC at the Coliseum, he pays close attention to how the offensive line is playing. At least for a significant portion of the game.
“I’d say half the game I’m just just watching the plays happen, but the other half I’m watching the OLine, what they’re doing, what the defenses are doing and how they’re reacting. I like to watch what techniques they’re using and stuff like that.”
Considering Carter was at USC eight times in 2022, the USC staff must be doing something right to get so many return visits.
“It’s really fun being at USC and I like going back there a lot,” said Carter. “The vibe, the energy and I’m always feeling the love from the coaches, players and everyone there. They make me feel like I’m a top priority.”
