Four-Star Offensive Tackle Alex Payne Commits to USC
Four-star Gainesville (GA) offensive tackle Alex Payne took an official visit to USC last weekend. It was his first trip to Los Angeles. Although most weren’t aware the Trojans were pursuing, they had been recruiting Payne on the down low for several months.
On Friday, Payne announced he’d flipped his commitment from North Carolina to USC.
“The education aspect of a USC degree,” said Payne about what stands out about USC. “My instant connection with the coaches. The USC football legacy speaks for itself and to be asked to become a part of that is huge for me. So many opportunities surround the campus outside of football since it’s in LA.”
Payne, whose teammate Xavier Griffin was already committed to USC, ranks as the On3 Industry’s No. 15 offensive tackle and No. 163 prospect overall. He’s been a priority target for Lincoln Riley and his staff here at the end of the cycle.
