Week seven of the 2022 NFL season is now in the books. Let’s take a look around the league at how several Trojans performed, headlined by Keaontay Ingram scoring his first NFL touchdown.

Ingram Gets First NFL Touchdown

On Thursday night, former USC running back Keaontay Ingram kicked off week seven in the NFL with a bang. Ingram scored his first pro touchdown in the contest, helping the Arizona Cardinals to a 42-34 victory over the New Orleans Saints.

Ingram was one of the lone bright spots in a disastrous season for the Trojans last year. The transfer from Texas rushed for 911 yards and five touchdowns, despite only appearing in ten games due to injuries. He also added 156 receiving yards, giving the running back over 1,000 yards of total offense on the season. The Cardinals selected Ingram in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Trojans Show Out in Chiefs-49ers Week Seven Showdown

One of Sunday’s most anticipated matchups was a showdown between two teams that played in their respective conference championship games last season: the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. And with well over ten million viewers across the country watching, two Trojans stepped up and made big plays.

For Kansas City, it was yet another big day from wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster. Smith-Schuster caught seven passes for 124 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs’ 44-23 win.

Meanwhile, despite the loss, 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga continued his superb season. Hufanga recorded yet another interception, his third of the year just seven games in.

AVT Done for the Season

Unfortunately, there was some rough injury news for Trojans in the NFL over the weekend. On Monday, New York Jets’ head coach Robert Salah announced that offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker will miss the remainder of the season with a triceps injury.

After a standout career at USC, the Jets made Vera-Tucker the 14th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Over the past season-and-a-half, he as emerged as an invaluable Swiss army knife, starting at multiple different positions on New York’s offensive line.
