Trojans win 14th in a row as No. 4 USC rolls Purdue
The No. 4 USC Trojans were absolutely dominant on Wednesday night in a 79-37 road takedown of the Purdue Boilermakers.
There was the slightest hiccup early as Purdue got out to a 16-10 lead at the 1:56 mark of the first quarter. The Boilermakers did not score again until just 1:58 remained before halftime as USC launched a 31-0 run.
The Trojans took a 46-18 lead into the half after outscoring Purdue 31-2 in the second quarter. Things didn’t get much better for the Boilermakers the rest of the way as Purdue scored 10 points in the third quarter and nine in the fourth.
True freshman Avery Howell scored 18 points, which was both a game-high and a career-high for her. She hit four of seven three-pointers, was a perfect 6-for-6 from the line and had three steals and two rebounds.
Superstar JuJu Watkins had 16 points, though it took 15 shots. She chipped in seven rebounds and two assists. Rayah Marshall had seven points and a game-high 13 rebounds, including four of the offensive end.
