QB Transfer Jayden Maiava Visiting USC
UNLV quarterback Jayden Maiava has entered the NCAA transfer portal, he announced in the evening on New Years Day. USC has lost two QBs this offseason in Caleb Wiliams and Malachi Nelson, so the Trojans need a couple of quarterbacks.
While word on his status has been relatively quiet, USC has been pursuing since last week. Lincoln Riley and staff set up an official visit for Maiava for this weekend. We’re told Maiava is currently own campus at USC this afternoon.
UCLA CB commit John Humphrey, NDSU DL Javier Derritt and Texas A&M DL Isaiah Raikes are also scheduled to officially visit this weekend. Humphrey told WeAreSC he arrives at USC on Saturday.
The talented QB has been with the Rebels for two seasons. He took a redshirt in 2022 and was the Mountain West Freshman of the Year. He led UNLV to the conference championship game and completed 62.9 percent of passes for 3,085 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also ran for 277 yards and three scores.
Jayden Maiava played high school football at Liberty HS in Las Vegas, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 986 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
