On3 released its latest iteration of the 2024 On300 on Monday. With the latest update, a number of top prospects saw their rankings shift.

A few, however, made particularly large jumps after the latest evaluations from On3’s scouting and rankings team. Multiple prospects jumped into the top-300 from outside the rankings completely, and a handful more moved up by more than 75 spots.

One of the biggest risers of the rankings was Lake Oswego (OR) Lakeridge USC tight end commit Joey Olsen.

Prior to today, Olsen was ranked as the No. 238 prospect in the On300, but he has risen 65 spots to No. 173 overall.

On3 also ranks Olsen as the No. 12 tight end in the 2024 class.

The 6-foot-5, 220 Olsen has bee n committed to USC since September 2022, when he chose the Trojans over Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, and others.

What On3 says about Olsen’s rise

“We’ve been high on Joey Olsen the whole time. He continued to slide up a little bit within the tight end group on this release because he’s continued to add size. Early in his high school career, he was a big receiver who projected as tight end, but we’ve seen him make a physical progression over the last couple of months into having more of a tight end body type. He continues to add weight and moves around really well. He has the natural receiving skills and athleticism.” — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

On3 Consensus Ranking

Olsen is the No. 242 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle and No. 14 tight end, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is ranked as the No. 1 player in Oregon.

When he committed

“I’d like to thank everyone who has helped me throughout this process,” Olsen wrote in a statement published on social media. “I’m excited to announce that I will be committing to the University of Southern California! Fight On.”
