USC Adds Defensive Quality Control Coach Bryson Allen-Williams
Former South Carolina standout linebacker Bryson Allen-Williams is the latest addition to USC’s coaching staff. Allen-Williams will join the Trojans as a Defensive Quality Control coach.
The former four-star recruit finished his career with the Gamecocks having recorded 176 tackles, 6.5 sacks, four interceptions and three fumble recoveries in five years.
Allen-Williams worked as a defensive grad assistant at North Carolina last season. Previously, he was a grad assistant at Georgia State. Allen-Williams thanked North Carolina head coach Mack Brown and assistant head coach for defense Gene Chizik in his statement announcing the move.
“I want to thank Coach Brown and Coach Chizik for taking a chance on me and giving me the ability to learn from two legends!” Allen-Williams posted to Twitter. “The relationships I have been able to develop and personal growth as a man and coach over the past year has been a blessing.”
Allen-Williams then said he will be joining the coaching staff at USC as a “Defensive QC.”
“I appreciate Coach Riley and Coach Grinch for this opportunity,” Allen-Williams said of head coch Lincoln Riley and defensive coordinator Alex Grinch. “Time to work!”
Allen-Williams was a member of the 2014 recruiting class. Along with his statement, he included photos of a visit he took to USC in 2012.
USC Adding to its Defensive Staff
USC continues to add to its defensive coaching staff. First, the Trojans return all of their fulltime defensive assistant coaches along with Grinch.

USC also brings back defensive grad assistants Will Johnson and Peyton Pelluer. The Trojans brought in longtime coach Greg Brown as a Senior Defensive Analyst this spring.
Parker Henry was scheduled to return for his second season as a Defensive Analyst and Linebackers Assistant. But according to FootballScoop, Henry is likely on his way to a coordinator position at FCS program Portland State. Taylor Mays is back, now as a Defensive Analyst. And he’s joined in that position by Bookie Radley-Hiles, who became a Defensive Analyst in January.
Of course, the big name added to the coaching staff this offseason came on the offensive side. Former college and NFL head coach Kliff Kingsbury is now a Trojan, working as a Senior Offensive Analyst.
There’s an added benefit to USC bringing Allen-Williams aboard. A Georgia native, Allen-Williams will undoubtedly be able to help the Trojans when it comes to recruiting that state. It’s an area where USC has focused of late. In the 2024 class, Georgia prospects in edge defender Kameryn Fountain and tight end Walter Matthews are already committed. Five-star wide receiver Mike Matthews and five-star defensive lineman Eddrick Houston are top targets in this class as well.
