USC announces two more defensive transfer portal additions
Another pair of USC’s commitments from transfer portal players were officially announced on Saturday.
Former UCLA safety Kamari Ramsey and Vanderbilt defensive lineman Nate Clifton are officially Trojans.
Obviously coming from UCLA, he is re-joining defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn, who the Trojans hired away from the Bruins earlier this month. In his first season with Lynn, Ramsey became a standout. He finished the 2023 season with 40 tackles, 4 passes defended and one interception over the last two seasons, the now-former Bruins defensive back amassed 45 total tackles, 4 passes defended and one interception. He flashed his innate ability, and will be looking to continue doing that for the Trojans.
The former Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) star was a coveted four-star, top-200 recruit from the class of 2022 and he redshirted in his freshman season, so he’ll have three years of eligibility available to the Trojans.
Ramsey provides the Trojans a legit starting caliber defensive back, which the Trojans will be replacing several of. Expect him to be an immediate impact player.

Clifton has spent all five years of his collegiate career at Vanderbilt and will have one year of eligibility remaining. He was named a team captain of the Commodores ahead of the 2023 season and recorded 93 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss, and an interception throughout his career.
At 280-pounds, he will be a true defensive end along with moving to the inside on occasion. You will likely seem him the most playing as a 3-tech or depending on the defensive front, a 5-tech. He will have his hand in the dirt.
His veteran mind and experience along with his size likely means he will have a role in the Trojans new defense early and often. Lincoln Riley and D’Anton Lynn are looking to get bigger on the defensive front and Clifton will help with that. Clifton previously spoke on Lynn’s pitch and what stood out the most. He says Lynn pitches his defense as an NFL scheme and something Lynn is confident will prepare players for the next level, which is something Clifton feels would be very valuable to him.
USC holds commitments from four other transfer portal players to this point and those will likely be announced in the coming days. safety Akili Arnold (Oregon State), cornerback John Humphrey (UCLA), cornerback DeCarlos Nicholson (Mississippi State) and running back Jo’Quavious “Woody” Marks (Mississippi State) have all announced public commits to USC so far.
