USC begins phased reopening for fans at indoor events
USC announced Friday that it will begin a phased reopening of indoor events to general attendance.
Capacity for indoor athletic events will be limited to 50%. All season ticket holders for men’s and women’s basketball, plus those who have purchased tickets to events will be acommodated. But USC announced that no single-game tickets will be available for the next three home games.
Those contests are Jan. 24 against Arizona State, Jan. 27 against Stanford and Jan. 29 against California.
USC’s decision to close indoor sporting events to the general public aligned with the university’s decision to begin the Spring academic semester with two weeks of remote learning. With classes set to begin in-person instruction on Monday, this Sunday (Jan. 23) will be the first athletic event held under these new attendance guidelines. The USC women’s basketball team hosts UCLA at the Galen Center at 6:00 pm.
There was no timeline given as to how long these new protocols will be in effect. USC said it will evaluate these measures “on an ongoing basis” and communicate any changes to the public.
