USC Bowl Projections: Trojans down to two potential destinations?
The USC Trojans (6-5, 4-5) clinched bowl eligibility with a 19-13 win against the rival UCLA Bruins (4-7, 3-6).
Here’s a roundup of the bowl projections from various outlets on where the Trojans could be headed this postseason, still with one gigantic regular season game remaining.
Sun Bowl – Dec. 31 in El Paso, Texas against Syracuse
Last week: LA Bowl – Dec. 18 in Los Angeles against UNLV
USC is 0-3 all-time in the Sun Bowl but 4-0 all-time against Syracuse. Something would have to give there.
Sun Bowl – Dec. 31 in El Paso against Georgia Tech
Last week: Sun Bowl against North Carolina
USC has remained steady in the Sun Bowl projection here for weeks, but the ACC opponents continues to flip. Two weeks ago it was Georgia Tech. Last week it was North Carolina. Now it’s back to Georgia Tech. USC fans would likely prefer any team to Georgia Tech in the Sun Bowl. Nobody needs a repeat of the 2012 event.

Last week: Sun Bowl – Dec. 31 in El Paso against Louisville (Bonagura)
Sun Bowl – Dec. 31 in El Paso against Pittsburgh (Mark Schlabach)
USC could open and close its 2024 season at Allegiant Stadium with a Las Vegas Bowl berth. USC fans traveled very well to the opener against LSU. It would be interesting to see what that number looked like after a season in which the Trojans were eliminated from playoff contention very early. Getting an SEC opponent in either Missouri or Texas A&M would create some excitement for the postseason matchup.
Sun Bowl – Dec. 31 in El Paso, Texas against Georgia Tech
Last week: Independence Bowl – Shreveport, Louisiana on Dec. 28 against Memphis
Las Vegas Bowl – Las Vegas on Dec. 27 against Missouri
Last week: Same
This would be a fun one against a Missouri team that came into the 2024 season with high hopes in the SEC. USC is 1-1 in Las Vegas bowl games, losing to Utah in 2001 and beating Fresno State in 2013.
