USC CB target Zabien Brown sets commitment date
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star cornerback Zabien Brown is one of the top remaining targets on USC’s board in the 2024 class. His recruitment is now nearing a final decision as Brown tweeted today that he will be committing on July 9.
Brown is the No. 62 overall prospect and No. 7 cornerback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 5 player in California.
Impact of USC official visit
We’ve documented eight USC visits for Brown, but he’s been on campus more times than that over the past three years. The official visits typically make a huge impact on out of state recruits who’ve visited a limited of number of times, but local prospects gain something a bit different from these visits.
“The visit was positive for sure and it was great getting back up there,” said Brown. “My interest in USC was already high, so this visit just amplified what I already knew. Just seeing more of how the coaches interact with each other and being around the guys on the team.
“There were a lot of positives from my USC visit and it gave me a lot to think about.

RPM was released to the public in December 2021. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.
It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.
On3 NIL Valuation
Brown has an On3 NIL Valuation of $125K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
Personal Life (On3 Database)
Zabien Brown got an opportunity to star early on in his career when former star Mater Dei recruit Damani Jackson suffered a season-ending ACL injury. Despite being picked on routinely early on, Brown wasn’t fazed and the coaches at Mater Dei raved about his development and confidence during the 2021 season. He would quickly emerge as one of the nation’s top defensive back recruits. “I feel like I’m really good up close and pressing,” Brown said. “Making sure people aren’t running over the top of me and really just becoming that shutdown corner.” During his junior season, Brown was sixth on the Monarchs in total tackles and led the team with three interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown against Los Alamitos.
