Bryan Jackson

In the first half of the first game of the season, 2024 USC running back commit Bryan Jackson went down with an elbow injury that would effectively keep him out of the next three games. Well, Jackson has now healed up and was back in action for the first time this season this past Friday night.

It is clear that Jackson was eager to get back in the mix with his talented McKinney squad. Jackson is just one of several division one and power five prospects on the roster, but he is arguably the most important with his role in the offense.

I will say, while Jackson technically fully returned this week, he did get in for one play last week, which actually resulted in a 3-yard touchdown rush. But it was his only snap of the game.

This week, he has back to himself. Jackson carried the ball 21 times, rushing for 113-yards and tallying up 3-touchdown scores.

McKinney won the game 35-14.

His touchdown runs were from 13-yards, 7-yards, and 3-yards out. He averaged 5.4 yards per rush in the game.

Jackson’s mom posted two short clips of his game on Twitter/X. They were not his touchdown runs, but two rushes that show his ability to avoid tackles and stay upright. One of the biggest praises I have had of Jackson’s game is his contact balance and knack for staying upright and moving forward.

Jackson’s recruiting profile

Jackson ranks as the No. 587 overall prospect in the country, No. 48 running back in the nation and No. 100 overall prospect in Texas, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He is a four-star prospect on two of the recruiting media companies.

According to his Hudl profile, the 230 pound Jackson boasts a 4.6 second forty yard dash, 4.4 second shuffle, a 300-pound bench press, and just shy of a 500-pound squat.

In his junior season, he carried the ball 265 times for 1,647 yards and 23 touchdowns. He averaged 6.2 yards per rush and 126.7 yards per game. Jackson eclipsed 100 yards rushing in nine of his 13 games.

At 6-foot, 230 pounds, the first look at him gives many the same idea. He is a big dude for short yardage. But when you watch him, you see that just being a bruising back is not his style. He is shifty, quick, and has good feet. One of the main things that stands out in his projection in the future is his ankles. He does not have thick, heavy ankles, which would lend him to more of the short yardage fit. He has thin ankles that allow him to have flexibility and maneuver well at his 230 pounds.
