USC commits rise, fall in latest On3 rankings release
On3 released its updated On300 rankings for the 2024 recruiting class on Monday afternoon, which saw significant changes for USC commits.
Los Angeles (Cali) Sierra Canyon running back Xavier Jordan remained the highest rated pledge in the class. However, Jordan dropped 10 spots from No. 58 to No. 68 overall.
Jordan is currently the only On3 Top 100 recruit in the class.
The next highest rated commit in the class is Hiram (Ga.) tight end Walter Matthews, stayed put at No. 132 overall. Although he did move up one ranking among the tight ends from No. 12 to No. 11.
Cheshire (CT) Academy linebacker Elijah Newby was the biggest riser in the class going from No. 268 to the No. 226 overall recruit nationally, a rise of 42 spots.
Bellflower (Cal.) St. John Bosco cornerback Marcelles Williams saw a slight rise of two spots from No. 239 to No. 237.
There were also some prospects outside the On300 that saw their position rankings rise. Offensive lineman Makai Saina saw himself rise five spots in the interior offensive line rankings while Hayden Treter saw a massive rise in the interior offensive line rankings from No. 164 to No. 108, a rise of 58 spots.
On the flip side of the coin, a number of USC commits suffered massive drops. Los Angeles (Cal.) Sierra Canyon safety Marquis Gallegos fell more than 100 spots from No. 176 to barely inside On300 at No. 289. Lake Oswego (Ore.) Lakeridge tight end Joey Olsen dropped 27 spots from No. 197 to No. 224.
